Is a parking reverse sensor available at BMW dealerships for install?

by admin on December 10, 2009

I’m looking at a gift and I was wondering a parking sensor, like the one in the link, can be installed on a BMW. Does the dealership offer it, any idea the cost?

Thanks so much! :)

has anyone had any problems w/ their 04 bmw 325i transmission? and if so, what kind of problems?

by admin on December 4, 2009

i’ve read of many problems with earlier modles such as a 2000, but have not heard of any with any 04’s. just wandering if bmw has resolved the issues related to the transmissions.

First, you did not mention if you are referring to automatic transmissions or manual transmissions.
And second there are no "issues" with BMW transmissions the way you are insinuating. Perhaps you could make yourself clearer by saying just what issues you know of or heard of.
Automatics sometimes do not shift at cold start properly (from park, to backing up and then going forward), and more often, harsh upshifts or downshifts (when coming to a stop or accelerating after braking to a stop). Both problems are corrected by re-programming the EGS module.
Manual transmissions do not have issues except those from stupid drivers who abuse their car.

BMW E39 528i steptronic?

by admin on December 3, 2009

1. Does anyone know why BMW changed the final drive ratio from 4.10 to 3.46 from 9/99?
2. If I change mine (7/2000) from 3.46 to 4.10, what is the downside?
3. I use Dinan s/w and so the RPM limit is raised, please keep this in mind, in case it has a bearing on your answers. Thank you very much.
Thanks very much for that Vince.

Additional questions.
(1) Is it safe for the car to make this modification?
(2) I assume its a straight swop – how long would it take?
(3) The process is reversible, correct?

1. The pre 09/1999 models have a A4S 310R transmissions. The "4" in A4S refers to 4 forward gears. Post 09/1999 models have A5S 360R transmissions, ie 5 forward gears. This is also the same transmission installed on several other BMW models. The transmission gear ratios have changed hence the drop from 4.10 to 3.46.

2. Downside is subjective. 1st gear will be shorter nad most likely rendered useless. Top speed will be reduced as well. And in some of the gears, while cruising, you may rev a little higher.

3. Dinan transmission or engine s/w or both? The car will still shift as needed.

What exhaust for my 2007 BMW M5?

by admin on December 3, 2009

I am trying to figure out a new exhaust I currently have the Dinan 4" high flow with RES. on now but I would like something more raspy and loud when I want it too be, I don’t want my ears bleeding all the time
Debating on selling it and getting the E92 actually… Giving it some time seeing if their are any bugs

Tubi exhausts are known to be quite raspy. Your best best, if you can’t find someone else with a different exhaust on their M5, is to check out YouTube. You’d be surprised. Some of the demo videos that people upload of their cars are quite helpful and high-quality so that you can clearly get a sense of the exhaust note.

Best BMW E92 M3 Exhaust?

by admin on December 3, 2009

Which is the best E92 M3 exhaust to get. I’m looking to upgrade the exhaust system and i know the Dinan system doesn’t void the bmw warranty…any tips on what to get from them?

First off Greddy makes crap for hondas DONT do that dinan is a great BMW tuning company here are some other options that are high quality they are a bit expensive but if you own a car such as a E92 M3 you have good taste so you get the good stuff for your car even if it is a little spendy
