How long will a 1997 BMW 740i Automatic transmission last?

I am curoius how many miles on average this car model will last considering it is a BMW.

When you go to get it checked up on, just make sure the fluids are changed when they need to be, other than that, yea it may just outlast you haha

the longest automatic BMW transmission i’ve met was a 1989 735 at 210,000 miles, but i don’t know but one owner of a 740. But just treat it with love and you’ll be fine.

545i Long Crank-Not Starting

Hello All,
I’ve been reading on the boards for awhile, first post.
Love my 2005 545i, bought it CPO with only 24k miles in Feb. 2008, and it has been a fun ride the entire time.
A few months ago it intermittently began long cranking of the starter/not turning over right away- only on “colder”…

Should I buy a BMW or a Japanese car?

Im in college and I really want a cheap used 3 series because I love those cars. I found one thats perfect for me and in my budget (4.5k), its a 98 and has 80k miles in great condition. I already had my mechanic scope it out.

Im just concerned with reliability and cost of maintenance. Insurance will rise by a bit but mostly I’m talking wear and tear repairs, like oil changes and parts/labor on anything else. Most people have been telling me to get a Japanese car because it would be cheaper and more reliable.

Will the BMW really cost that much more to maintain and will it not be reliable? Some have told me that 80k miles is too much but I’ve seen BMW’s on sale with 150k+ miles. I used to get oil changes on my Mazda for 20-30 bucks, is that not possible with a 98 3 series?

Should I buy Japanese or get the BMW I want?

Where can I buy a BMW F 650 CS Scarver bike?

I really love this model of bike and I can’t find where to buy it online it would be great if someone could tell me if there is a dealer in ether Washington, Alaska, Georgia, or Florida that has it for sale. Used is fine.

well, I was gonna suggest going to a BMW dealership and asking them. sometimes they have connections that no one else does for particular BMW models. I am presuming that you have done a websearch for this specific model?

What is a better used car ‘06 BMW M5 or ‘07 Audi RS4?

The prices are about the same right now and there are quite a few of both supercars offered for sale. I love the beastly 507hp M5 Ferrari killer; but the 420hp RS4 is no dog – lighter and Quattro awd is nice for winter in Long Island. I’m torn.

Great problem to have. I love the 06 M5, the wheels on it alone make me drool. Audi is also great. it all comes down to whether you want that snob value or that understated power? I would go with the snob value of the m5.
